No formal experience is needed! Broadway Bootcamp welcomes all skill levels, from complete beginners to kids who’ve been in a show or two. We do not require auditions or any prior singing or dancing training — just enthusiasm. Our instructors will teach the basics of singing, dancing, and acting from the ground up, making sure everyone can follow along. If your child is more experienced, we’ll still challenge them with opportunities like solo lines or more complex choreography, but if they’re new, we’ll guide them step by step. Everyone gets to shine, regardless of experience.
During the first week, campers build foundational skills through daily workshops in acting, voice, and dance. They might learn a fun ensemble song from a musical, practice acting out scenes, and work on dance routines to improve coordination. We also mix in theatre games and creative exercises to keep things lively. In the second week, the focus shifts to rehearsing for the final show. Campers spend more time putting together all the pieces — refining their songs, mastering choreography, and running through scenes. By the end of the two weeks, they’ll have a polished performance ready to present.
Absolutely! At the end of the second week, we put on a final showcase performance for family and friends. It’s like a mini Broadway show featuring the campers. They perform the musical numbers and scenes they’ve been working on. We provide simple costumes and props to make it feel special (at no extra cost to you). The performance will take place on the last Friday afternoon at our camp venue. It’s a wonderful celebration of everything the kids have learned!
Each day is filled with activity and variety. In the mornings, campers might rotate through classes – for example, an acting workshop, a vocal rehearsal, and a dance class. After lunch, everyone comes together to rehearse as a group, integrating what they learned into the scenes and songs for the showcase. We usually start the day with a fun warm-up or theatre game to get energy up and break the ice. There are short breaks for snacks and rest, so campers stay fresh. By the afternoon, they’re often practicing a big ensemble number or doing a run-through of part of the show. No two days are exactly the same, but every day includes singing, dancing, acting, and lots of fun!
Have your child dress in comfy clothes they can move in easily (like leggings, shorts, t-shirts, and running shoes or sneakers). We do a lot of movement, so being able to stretch and dance without restriction is important. They should also bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a packed lunch plus snacks for our breaks (nut-free, please, to keep all campers safe). We provide all the scripts, music, and materials they’ll need. If your child has jazz shoes or ballet slippers and wants to use them, they can bring them, but it’s not required at all. Closer to the performance, if we need any simple costume pieces from home (like a plain white shirt or black pants), we’ll let you know in advance – generally, we have everything covered. Mostly, they should just bring their enthusiasm and a big smile each day!
