Calling all curious minds and future detectives—this isn’t your average STEM camp. DNA Detectives is a one-of-a-kind summer camp where youth ages 10–13 become junior detectives, using real biotech tools to uncover how DNA helps crack cases. Hosted in Metro Prep’s state-of-the art GENIUS biotechnology lab, campers take part in hands-on experiments that feel straight out of a CSI episode—minus the danger, and with a lot more fun.
Throughout the week, campers will extract their own DNA, amplify genetic clues using PCR, and decode biological “evidence” through gel electrophoresis—just like professional forensic scientists. Developed by Metro Prep’s GENIUS Biotechnology Program, DNA Detectives offers exclusive access to Toronto’s only high school biotech lab—equipped with the same tools used in university and industry labs, including micropipettes, centrifuges, and PCR machines.
No science background required. Just bring your curiosity, creativity, and sharpest detective instincts—we’ll supply the lab coats.
